January 6, 2009 (LPAC)--In a conference call for right-wing The Israel Project, former Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman claimed that an Israeli victory in the war on Gaza will be ``the liberation of Palestine.'' While sticking to the essential Israeli message of blaming the Israeli assault on Hamas' rockets and claiming "moderate Arab'' support, Gillerman was so extreme at times that even the Israel Project hostess, Jennifer Lazlo Mizrahi, was speechless.
The hostess read the question, "Are Israeli nuclear facilities safe in the current situation?'' to which Gillerman answered, "I'm not aware that there are any Israeli nuclear facilities.'' When questioned about casualties among the civilian population in Gaza, Gillerman answered that the Israeli military is taking "compassion for civilians'' to heart in a greater way than any "Allied or NATO troops have to my knowledge.'' He said that the IDF has the phone numbers of 800,000 Gazans and is calling them all to warn them that their homes are in danger of being bombed. He invited American generals and retired generals and correspondents to come to Israel after the war to learn about "the Israeli military's unprecedented concern for civilians.''
Gillerman said Israel has the secret support of the Arab world "who do not want to see Hamas prevail,'' citing out of context statements by Egyptian President Mubarak and "even Amr Moussa,'' head of the Arab League. Hamas has imprisoned the Palestinians of Gaza who had a great chance at democracy after Israel withdrew, he said, but now they are "imprisoned by Hamas ...who use the Palestinians as hostages'' and "hide behind the skirts of women.''
He said, "This is no longer Samuel Huntington's clash of civilizations. This is the clash of a civilization--a clash of Islam--where terrorists are killing moderates and Palestinians are killing Palestinians.'' He summed up his beastman remarks: "If Hamas is stopped, Palestinians will be assured of a two-state solution.''
